Comment: The Issues Remain
A huge thank you to everyone for your support during the Seanad elections.
Unfortunately, I was not successful and have now been eliminated. I felt compelled to run on issues that affect hundreds of thousands of people in Ireland.
My aim was to shine a light on these issues in the Seanad in order to influence policy and practice in Ireland. I believe that I would have made a very effective, passionate and hardworking Senator.
The issues remain – unchanged by the outcome of the election.
The human rights of our most vulnerable are violated on a daily basis in Ireland.
I was committed to effecting change before I ran for the Seanad, I remain committed irrespective of the outcome of the election.
My candidacy was always about the issues, not about me.
I will continue to do what I can outside of parliament.
I wish the Senators elected to the 25th Seanad every success, they will, I am sure do great things.
I send my commiserations to the unelected TCD candidates and also to my friends who ran on the NUI panel.
